First Powell Trip of the Summer

It was short but sweet. You know it's going to be a good trip when you start things off with dinner at Rewind. I had those suger shrimp skewers and we must have ordered one of every desert... Rewind is SOOOO amazing. If you are ever in Kanab, it is a MUST-GO! Stirland girls, I missed you tremendously. Somehow, Kanab is not the same without you. The only downside was that Luke's Dad's shop was closed so we didn't get to go in and look at the wreck pictures (always a few minutes well spent). This time around we took Matt, Meree, & Porter (who has suddenly found the joy of relentless screaming), and their knew house-mate Bronzen. M & M are in the process of adopting Meree's two brothers since her Mom died. Power to them! I've never seen anyone with more on their plates and they still smile and ask what they can do for you. Meree is a saint. I look up to her so much. She AMAZES me every minute of the day! I wish I could hand her a couple million bucks and say, "here, you've earned it," because she certainly has. Lake Powell is gorgeous! I can't wait to get back. Maybe we better leave the speedo home next time though, what do you think?

Why does Quinn love it so? And then he sends it home with Meree so she can wash it?!?!?! Oh Quinn. The other day she told me he showed up at her door and, without even saying hello, demanded, "Where are they Meree?" He was referring to the rest of her pumpkin-chocochip-cream cheese bars. She had brought us a few to try and apparantly they made an impression. She pointed in the general direction and before she could catch up with him to tell him he could have one, Quinn had devoured the ENTIRE plate. My husband. Maybe we are getting a little too close to Matt and Meree.

I've been in a panic, literal heart beating faster panic, all this week because I feel like summer is almost over and one day soon I'll wake up and it will be August 4th: the first day of school! Please no!!! There is nothing NOTHING better than summer (well, maybe NYC). Seriously, it's better than it ever was when I was kid, even counting the summer of 17. It's sooooo much better than all the veteren teachers described. It's like waking up each morning and there is a big fat huge present on the foot of your bed and you open it up and it says to you, "Congratulations, you can do whatever you want today!" So then you go back to bed, basking in the joy of JUNE!!!!!!! I keep hidden this secret desire in the back of my head: stay-at-home housewife. Sounds great right? So far, I can attest to the fact that it is greater than anything I could have imagined, hoped for, or predicted. I seriously love my job right now.
