The Case of the Missing Snowmen and... THE BET

...So, in the midst of moving, I decide to stay late at work yesterday and construct a huge project- "Plight of the Snowmen." The idea is to put up a million snowmen all over school that bare signs labeled: "Save the Snowmen, Stop Global Warming"
Quite hilarious really. Especially when you stop and consider the fact that I'm a Language Arts teacher. Long story short, the jist is that this was the perfect way to introduce propaganda and breach the barrier of connecting classroom jibberish with the real world.. you know, life. For further explanaion watch a hilarious clip HERE.

So I spent a rediculous amount of time designing, coloring, cutting, lamenating, and cutting (again), these cute little persuaders and I put them up all over the school last night. I was so excited to come to school this morning and hear the outrage from students, but alas, when I walked onto the premises the snowmen were gone... not a sign. They had simply dissapeared. I figured I'd overstepped the boudries of plaintive teacher behavior but the principal said, "Not I Mrs. Hadley, I would let you post propaganda in the halls any old day."

...Come to find out, after a forceful PA announcement, a few accusations, and some furtive searching for the culpret, I got to the bottom of things. It was Mr. Green, in the Study, with the Candlestick. Just kidding, close though. It was the janitor... and to proove his blatent act of hostility, I found a few of the melting corpses in the garbage. No small act of war I say, so- How did I retaliate you ask?????

EVEN MORE SNOWMEN. This time, they are taped, stapeled, and mortered to the walls. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!!!!

...and, in further development:

Q and I were watching the Olympics, the 400 meter hurdles to be exact, when he suddenly blurted out, WITH OUT A HEDGE OF DOUBT, that he could assuridly beat the slowest girl in the heat.
Nevermind the fact that it was the finals and I none-to-calmly informed him that these were the fastest women in the world.
Full of confidence and bravado, Q DID NOT RELENT.
So the bet is on. I may have had to recover from a bout of choking in shock followed directly by disbelief formed laughter, but I came to my witts long enough to challenge him.
Q said he didn't even need to practice or warm up, but after mentioning this conversation to his co-workers... and whitnessing the same reaction of "whatever, you're crazy" he got from me, he decided he would take a month to prepare himself for, what I'm sure will be complete anailation. He has also since decided that he never claimed he would jump the hurdles (ya-right) and that he said he could simply RUN the 400 meter faster than the slowest hurdler in the Olympic medal round... which, by the way, is just over 57 seconds in case you missed that event.

So the date is set. You're all invited to the track, September 22nd, to whitness history as Quinn sprints past the Olympic candidates and proves a life-time of training and pure speed-tricked-out genetics wrong.

Gotta love him. Only Quinn....

UPDATE

Crazy Busy in our neck of the woods. Sorry for the delay. Here's the latest:

CARD SWAP GIRLS: This is a sneak peak of what you are about to recieve!!!! If you are one of the last two who still need to get me your cards, SEND THEM or GET THEM TO ME ASAP because the punctual participants are waiting on you. No pressure right???? Anyway, as soon as I get the last batches I'll send you your amazing package.

Check out my amazing students. I swear they are taking "good pills" because they PALE in comparrison to the slightly INSANE bunch of last year. Seriously, I tell them everyday how much I love them. My job is actually what I do now instead of my whole entire life.

In the midst of moving, we managed to get some great small town fun in. We went to annual Pine Valley dinner and made it just in time to get in on the BBQ before clean up time. There had been over 600 people there and we heard Alana may have been one of them but we were late so we missed her. Quinn says these small town shin digs are what America is all about. All I could think of was the amazing less then frying pan temperture weather. It was beautiful. I love it up there.

Last weekend we had to scratch Western Legends (so sad) in lou of moving, but we did manage to make it up to Enterprise for the cornfest instead. This is me contemplating the never before thought that corn can taste an aweful lot like candy. We had to pull together our quarters for the cobs, but it was worth the extra mileage. I think this will have to be an annual tradition.

DHSers: IF YOU HAVE PICTURES FOR THE REUNION SLIDE SHOW (10 years, reallly!?!?!?!) you need to email them to me ASAP: nhadley@scmiddle.org
I am making the slideshow this week (duh- the reunion is saturday).

Nostalgia!

So, do you ever get tired of where you are living and feel like life is a lot different than you thought it would be? Don't get me wrong, I love St. George and everything and would probably miss it a lot if I moved but a Huge part of me really misses the place where I grew up. I think a lot of people feel like that sometimes. It would probably be better if we had an actual house of our own with an actual garage, and yard. Ever since my mission, I have been doing the apartment or condo thing and it's really starting to get old and it's not about to get better any time soon. Even when it does, I have to live right in St. George because of my job and there's hardly anything left close by where you can have a big yard and land around your house like I did where I grew up. I was so lucky and kinda feel bad for my kids. I was in Enterprise yesterday for work and wished I could live up ther so bad! (I need to live somewhere where I can have a yard big enough to at least play wiffle ball in, where my kids can ride 4 wheelers or horses and build huts). I think part of it was because it felt more like "Home" to me and that is the whold point of this post. I know I had to grow up, I came to St. George, my wife is from here, my job is here (don't think I would want to do it anywhere else) and some of my family is now here and so we are here for life. But, Taylor will always be Home to me. I just took a trip up there for work and saw some of my best friends and even drove by the old house. I love where I grew up, I love the friends I had, the sports teams I was on, the schools I went to and all of the things we did there! I mean, we were always in the mountains and stuff. I can't remember the last time I actually went camping. Why do we have to stop doing all of the things that we love so much? One of the things I hate most about life, and there aren't that many, is that where you live, how you live and how much of this earth you actually get to see depend on Money, your job, and who you are. I have been some cool places but hate that there is so much out there I will never get to see because of money. Anyway, I'm feeling a little nostalgic So, here are a few of my favorite pics from the good old days when I didn't have a worry in the world. Man we had a Hell of a time! Enjoy!
