Newsprint Nose

We took Seth & Co. to Lake Powell just before he left for his mission to Africa and had a terrific vacation. Annie hadn't quite yet learned how to be a good Lake Baby and now I am remembering those miserable summer colds. Maybe this means we'll skip right over the winter ones.

Annie loves adventure sans the life jacket. I bought a couple different ones to see which would be my best bet. Answer: NONE. This little pink number was the worst. I swear it shrink wrapped to her body once I got it on and I couldn't get it off. Do NOT buy it. Also, Annie decided to hate sand seconds after we arrived at the sand hill.

I will miss this place so much when my parents finally sell their houseboat. Antelope Point is the creme de la creme. I'll have to make a note to take a few extra trips down the slide next summer just in case. Oh, and then it came... again. That rancid thought that pervades my otherwise happy little life: I miss being skinny! Oh how I miss it!

Poor Annie, I took her down to visit Q when we lived it the mortuary and when I set her on a table, she face planted it right on top of a newspaper. You could read the print on her nose the rest of the day! I felt so bad.

The first night we moved into our new house, Annie went wild with all the space. She must have covered a few miles before bed time. We've been here now almost 4 months and it is still a dream. I catch myself sitting in different spots and staring at things for half an hour before I finally go to bed. I just can't believe we did this and we made it happen and we are here... 3600 sq/ft of here. It's a dream. May I also add that there is no way my floors will ever be as clean as this again.

This reminds me, I need to post the rest of the before-and-afters.

Lake Girl

I took Annie to Lake Powell last weekend and she loved it. We went on a couple boat rides
and watched Mormon conference on satellite. I even got all my grading done... finally.

I climbed the sand hill only to discover just how many extra pounds and ounces I seem to be storing under my epidermis. I swear my body thinks I'm going to need it all for a coming famine or something. It's like asking a well working chipmunk to give up his stash of acorns just before winter. Annie was waiting with a dinner order when I finally made it back down.

I kept Annie in her pram on the boat and it worked wonders for shade. She loves kicking the cover when the boat is going. She also loves trying to fit both of her fists into her mouth at once. I think she truly believes that any time now she will successful complete the task.

It was shaded enough at dusk in Antelope Canyon to take Annie out for her first real look at the lake. Naturally, she loved it. I think she is planning her skiing debut for next summer.

In the nick -and I mean not a moment too soon- we got the boat loaded before a huge storm rolled in. Did I say "we"....? I mean Mom and Meg. I hung out with Annie on the dock.

Last Night:

Annie thought she'd sport her Brazil-wear for Q.

I picked this up while we were in Brazil over Christmas.
Some friends of Quinn's sent Annie the Brazil booties all the way from
the outer-most-outers in his Porto Alegre mission area.

Bunny feet. Love it.

Leany-Potter-Albrecht-Metcalf Powell Trip

This was our official 2009 shore camp site. We beached there pretty much the entire summer because the channel was open on the other side and there was hardly any traffic. In fact, we ended up having less people here than up at Warm Creek.

Meg had the tremendous task of tending the kiddos while we hit the sand hill.
