In the Last Fading Moments of Summer...

No- I WON'T ruin it for you, but I did stay up tell 5am and finished the thing after a few hours of respite this morning. Meree and I went to the midnight bash to get our copy hot off the press. I'm ashamed to admit it took me over 10 hours to complete (it's huge) but I like to read slow when I can afford to. Overall impression- doesn't hold a candle to the rest of the saga, you can tell her publishers asked her to stretch the series to four, and it was pretty predictable. Also, not really any suspense at all. Not complaining though- you're looking at someone who completely ignored all marital relations and personal hygiene for a day to finish it in one session. Looking forward to the movie.

Thursday we flew up to SLC to meet my cousin Jeff who returned from his mission. These pics are a few highlights from the day. Ps- flying in July = not optimal. Plus my dad said we couldn't take anything but a toothbrush and we were spending the night. I wore this little number for more than 24 hours straight. Good thing we had authentic "WELCOME HOME JEFF" t-shirts to shroud the monotony.

Did I mention we ate at the Original Pancake House (holy cow amazing) AND Benihanas? Yes, I so asked for extra dressing to go. It's the bomb-diggity! Elder Stirland is pictured enjoying a nice filet of Salmon.
If you are looking for great photo spot... this totally awesome HUGE wall is right by benihana's. Isn't Ashley HOT!
...Also, I can't afford the cupcakes at 25 Main anymore (can you say three days in a row this week), so I decided to make my own. I'm trying to guess their secret ingredient. Is it buttermilk? Sour Cream? Yogurt? This recipe was good, but I'm convinced now that buttermilk is out.

AND, most importantly....
Here's the list of people who want to do the card swap so far:
Me
Jill H
Mindi R
Megan J
Anita
I'll keep it open for a little while in case a few more of you want to catch in on the action. Just leave a comment with your name and look for details on this blog next week.
(no- you don't have to be local, and yes- you make a bunch of homemade cards, get them to me, and in return you get a bunch of different ones back)
Attention bloggers everywhere: We have convinced two new bloggers to join our ranks. Check out The Wonder Woman of the West and Matt and Meree!

Sour Cream.. A cup of sour cream and more sugar. That's what I've heard from a pretty reliable source.

Nicole,
How many cards do you think we'll probably end up (each) making? I was just wondering if it's a "do-able" amount...or if I'm going to be WAY in over my head once school stats!?!? Just let me know approximately! :) Thanks!

I've been holding off reading the book until now, because I've been busy getting ready for the big trip. I'm very excited to see you for the second time in a little over a week. :)
