La Verdad

Today is one of those days I console myself with this consequential fact: When middle school teachers die, they go straight to heaven.

Here is a picture of some of my star students (aka- the ones who 'get it' that Animal Farm isn't a fluffy story about a bunch of farm animals). They are holding up a fake propaganda newsletter I made and used to convince them of my massive lie. They don't know it yet, but in this picture I'm about to tell them the truth... and they are about to A) be impressed with my manipulation skills and floored by the fact that I actually used them, or B) be insanely mad and ready to hate me for the rest of year, claiming my lie is sufficient cause for revolt. In any case, I really got them stirred up and thinking which, in my profession, in a rare and positive thing.

Ok, so I LOVE all the new posts! I check your blog frequently to see if there has been any activity, so it is always good to see something new! It is great to see what you have been doing with your class-I can tell that you are an amazing teacher! That is awesome that you had Miss Utah come to your class! I watched the whole reality show and, of course, The Miss America Pageant and loved her. I was thinking of you and feeling very reminisant(ok, so I am sure that I spelled that wrong) of the time that we were in Miss Utah together-oh, the good ol' days! So, I am with you on the being a stay-at-home wife. After 2 years of teaching I am ready to have freedom to just LIVE! All those things you mentioned are things I often dream of doing, yes, even cleaning the toilet. I have no time to do little things like that because I am a workaholic-but not by choice. Spencer often wonders why I don't have a lovely home-cooked meal on the table when he gets home. We also have 2 mortgages(I know-my spelling) and I must work to survive. Although, I must say that if I didn't have to work, I would want to have kids. I have to disagree with you on that one thing.
Ok, so this is a novel-sorry. I miss you guys! We need to get together soon!

This is great... I'm so glad to hear that every once and a while you can get your students thinking! I'm sure that with the two options you gave they picked option A. I mean what middle school student could NOT be impressed by their English teacher?! I hope all is well and that you one day get the luxury of being a stay at home wife!

Hey I found your blog! I'm glad you mentioned the "blogging" thing when we saw each other at Nielson's. :)
